NBA 2K21 brought tons of new features, and with next-gen consoles, 2K is shaking everything up once again with massive new upgrades to shooting.
Let’s go over what’s to come in November.
NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Shooting
NBA 2K21 will take on some big upgrades to shooting on next-gen.
Players can now adjust the arc of their shot with the speed of their pro stick, and this can help avoid any closing out defenders getting a finger on the ball.

This will also effect accuracy, and players will be rewarded for nailing an ideal shot arc.
Another new layer for NBA 2K21 shooting in next-gen is control of bank shots.
If you’re looking to go to the glass on a jumpshot or layup, you can now control it in NBA 2K21 – which is a debut feature for the series.
Layups in NBA 2K21 can be massively frustrating. Every player knows the feeling of driving to the hoop only to take a random pull up jumper with a wide open path.
New layup changes coming to NBA 2K21 on next-gen will tackle this issue by improving layup physics to better assess threats and open areas to put up your shot. As well, you’ll have better control of your finishing angles with the pro stick.

On top of this, there will be less usage of basic finishing animations which opens the door for more offensive possibilities, and necessitates smarter paint defense.
Shot Meter Changes
The Shot Meter continues to be a contentious topic for NBA 2K21. And after several updates have changed the shot meter, more updates are coming.

On next-gen, missing the window on the NBA 2K21 shot meter is a definite miss. A new more defined shot meter window will help players adjust to this.

There are also new visual options for showing shot quality in the controller settings menu.
NBA 2K21 pull-up jumpers are now sorted into two categories on next-gen – controlled, and high momentum.

These will separate shots of different difficulty levels, and can challenge players to choose between creating space from the defense for a tougher shot, or taking a better defended shot with your feet planted.
