Games Industry is reporting that the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console of April 2021, which is a big win for Nintendo considering the demand for Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series consoles. The publication reports that both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 are neck-and-neck in terms of sales during 2021, though there were less PlayStation 5 console’s in stock in April. Here’s the physical charts for April:
Nintendo accounted for almost a third (32.5%) of all physical games sold in the UK last month. Switch games (including non-Nintendo games) accounted for practically half the market (49.6%). The best-selling boxed game of the month was Nintendo Switch exclusive New Pokémon Snap, despite only being on sale for two days during this reporting period.
