NBA 2K22‘s release date is now on the horizon!
With the anticipation building, we’re bringing you all the latest news along with when you will be able to get your hands on the game.
Latest – Luka Doncic set to be next Cover Star
NBA 2K22 is the next big game that will soon hit the stores, and fans are more than excited about it.
Reports have suggested that Luka Doncic will most probably be the game’s cover star, to further increase the anticipation.
Luka Doncic plays for the Dallas Mavericks and is easily one of the best Point and Shooting guards in the league at the moment.
It is worth noting that he was the cover athlete for NBA Live Mobile in December 2019.
Release Date
The NBA 2K22 Release Date hasn’t officially been revealed, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a good idea of when to expect it based on previous years.
September has been the standard for NBA 2K games for quite some time, and the last three editions of NBA 2K have landed during the first week of September.
With NBA 2K21 and NBA 2K19 hitting on a Friday, though NBA 2K20 hit on a Thursday, we can probably expect NBA 2K21 to release on the first or second Friday of September.
That means the most likely NBA 2K22 Release Date is either September 3, 2021 or September 10, 2021.
NBA 2K22 Demo
While they haven’t typically done a beta testing period for NBA 2K, last year’s NBA 2K21 did see a proper demo released a little over a week prior to launch.
The demo for NBA 2K21 hit on August 24, 2020, which means a potential demo for NBA 2K22 would likely follow a similar time frame.

If we do get a demo for NBA 2K22, it’ll probably land between August 27, 2021 and September 3, 2021, ahead of the NBA 2K22 Release Date.
Early Access
While it’s become a new standard in sports games to provide early access to players who choose to get a pre order of the title, NBA 2K hasn’t stuck with that trend.
NBA 2K21 didn’t provide early access to the full title, but instead chose the route of giving players the demo in the week before release.
While things could change, it doesn’t currently look like we’ll see an early access bonus for NBA 2K22.
Pre Order
There aren’t any official details on the pre order of NBA 2K22 just yet, but we can look at last year’s release of NBA 2K21 to get an idea of when that will change.

NBA 2K21 pre orders got started on June 2, 2020, which makes June 2021 a very likely time to expect pre orders for NBA 2K22 to go live.
We also don’t yet have details on what kinds of pre order bonuses will be provided, but past years have seen plenty of in-game goodies packed in for those who sign on early.
Platforms
NBA 2K21 made the first leap onto Next Gen consoles with a release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it came following the game’s initial launch on current gen consoles and platforms.
Last year, we saw NBA 2K21 release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.

We can likely expect the same field of platforms with NBA 2K22, as many gamers will not yet have jumped to Next Gen, so NBA 2K won’t want to lose out on that business.
