Former CSM women’s basketball student-athlete Amaya Yancey has another award to add to her trophy case for her time at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM). The standout point guard won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) NBA2K Tournament in April and earned $1,500 in scholarship prize money for her victory.
The tournament included 256 junior college students from across the country set up with four, 64 team brackets, with the top 16 players from each bracket being seeded into the Final 64 championship bracket.
Even though this was her first time competing in an NBA2K tournament, Yancey said she didn’t face a lot of adversity going up against her competitors.
