With NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 8 underway, a promotion has officially started for a free Dark Matter card. That item features Atlanta Hawks’ scoring sensation Trae Young, as his team prepares to battle the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs.
In addition to that promotion, early Game of Rings rankings arrived regarding which player is leading the way so far. That player determines a Dark Matter card that gamers will receive in MyTeam Season 8.
How to get Trae Young Dark Matter card in NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 8
A Trae Young Dark Matter card will be guaranteed for gamers within the next week of NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 8. In order to get the card, all it takes is logging in and playing 2K’s MyTeam mode each day of the week. Based on a tweet from 2K21 MyTeam, it started on Saturday, June 5, and will extend to Friday, June 11.
Each day’s log in will bring specific rewards including MT, Badges, Consumables, Tokens, and a Throwback Moments pack. Those are nice in and of themselves, but a free Dark Matter Rewards card is even better. At the end of the seven-week period, gamers get to spin the wheel for a guaranteed Trae Young DM card as shown below.
Stats for this particular Trae Young card haven’t been revealed yet. However, it could top his Mystery card which was a 98 OVR. That card featured 96 Playmaking, 92 Athleticism, 81 Outside Scoring, and 76 Defending attributes. It all had 17 Gold Badges and 37 HOF Badges. Most likely, the Trae Dark Matter card will best those attribute ratings and badge numbers.
It seems highly likely once this Trae Young card is acquired, there will also be new Season Agendas added for MyTeam Season 8. Currently, there are tasks related to the Gladiator Packs which just came out this past Friday at the start of the season.
2K’s cover star is leading Game of Rings rankings early
Damian Lillard recently bowed out of the playoffs after balling out against the Denver Nuggets in the first round. However, fans are making a strong case for him in MyTeam. Based on early Game of Rings rankings for NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 8, the current-gen cover star is leading the way.
Right now, he’s trailed by Zion Williamson, who is the Next-Gen cover star for 2K21. Surprisingly, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz is third, with the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum in fourth overall.
To boost a specific player from the group below, gamers need to use them in Triple Threat Offline mode and score points. As a player scores more, they’ll move up, but right now it looks like the game’s two cover stars have the popular vote.
As shown above, the community receives a Dark Matter Locker Code in NBA 2K21 MyTeam from the winning player’s team. It’s unknown which players that means right now. Possibilities could include Carmelo Anthony, Brandon Ingram, Rudy Gobert, LeBron James, and Joel Embiid.
