Warriors’ Damion Lee hilariously reveals why he stopped playing NBA 2K

Warriors’ Lee hilariously reveals why he quit playing NBA 2K originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Damion Lee reached a milestone in his fourth NBA season.

The Warriors guard could look at himself in NBA 2K21 and actually see himself.

“I think this year was the first year I was actually — like, my face scan was in the game,” Lee said Sunday in a video conference with reporters. “Finally had my tattoos and all that stuff.”

Lee revealed he was a PlayStation loyalist growing up, mentioning it was a bucket-list experience to visit Sony’s headquarters. He played all kinds of fantastical titles, games starring Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and the like.

The 28-year-old expects a little more realism when playing NBA 2K, though. Although it thrilled him to have his true likeness in the most recent iteration of the game, he retired from playing the 2K Sports staple because the game failed to properly portray him in a very important way.

“I shot a wide-open corner [3-pointer], and I air-balled it over the basket,” Lee recalled. “And then my guy did a Eurostep and dunked on someone. As soon as I seen that, I pressed start, quit the game and uninstalled it.

“That’s not me! Like, that’s not my game. I probably could, maybe eventually, but, like, let’s be real. I’m not Eurostepping and one-hand dunking on someone. Nah. Safety first, you know?”

This season alone, 73.4 percent of Lee’s shots have been 3-pointers, and the guard has knocked down 38.8 percent of them. He has attempted five dunks in his career (all last season), according to NBA Advanced Stats.

Lee currently has an overall rating of 75, according to 2K Ratings, with a “corner specialist” badge to his name. Until he starts posterizing opponents in real life, though, he probably won’t be playing as his virtual counterpart anytime soon.
