NBA 2K League Will Award $2.5 Million In Prizes During 2022 Season


The NBA 2K League is giving teams the opportunity to take home some serious money this season. The league will award $2.5 million in cash prizes. It’s the largest cash pool prize amount is the largest in league history, an increase of over 65%.

Teams will have opportunities to take home a piece of the prize money through various tournaments, influencer events and the NBA 2KL Championships. The largest portion of prize money is reserved for the NBA 2KL Finals champion.

The Banner Chain powered by AT&T tournaments make up most of the in-season tournaments. Play begins in April with The Tipoff Tournament. It is followed by The Turn in May, The Ticket in August and the Playoffs and Finals later in August.

The prize pools for the in-season tournaments are $250,000, $250,000 and $50,000, respectively. The Playoffs and Finals have a total prize pool of $1 million with first place receiving $500,000. Second place will win $200,000. Third and fourth place will both get $80,000. Fifth through eighth place net $25,000. Ninth through twelfth place get $10,000.

While tournaments like the Banner Chain and NBA2KL Playoffs and Finals will continue to exclusively showcase NBA 2K League teams, amateurs will also have a chance at winning some money.

Amateur teams from around the world can compete alongside NBA 2K League teams in the Coinbase NBA 2KL 3v3 Blacktop Series tournaments. The Blacktop Series begins in March with the Slam Open. Play continues with the Switch Open in May and the Playoffs and Finals in August.

Teams competing in the Slam Open and Switch Open will play for cash prize pools worth $150,000 each. Those who advance to the NBA2KL 3v3 Playoffs and Finals will vie for a pool worth $600,000.

The first-place team will win $250,000. Second place gets $100,000. Third place and fourth place will each receive $50,000. Fifth through eighth place nets $25,000. And ninth through twelfth place takes home $10,000.

The buck doesn’t stop there, though. The league is also handing out bonuses for its top competitors for the first time in 2022. Whoever takes home Most Valuable Player honors at the end of the season will also receive $15,000. Players named Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year will each get $7,500. The Most Improved Player will take home $5,000.

There is even some prize money for the coaches. The coach named Coach of the Year will get $5,000.

The NBA2KL 3v3 Blacktop Series tips off on March 23. The NBA 2K League season begins with The Tipoff tournament on April 5.
