It’s no secret, Charles Barkley isn’t in NBA 2K21, and he hasn’t been in the game for some time now. There’s been tons of discussion around it over the years, but the two sides haven’t come to an agreement that would drop in arguably one of the last two great pieces from 1990s NBA basketball, with Reggie Miller being the other most glaring omission.
Barkley wants 2K to donate $1 million to a retired NBA players fund, and he’ll be in the game. Apparently, there is some disconnect and 2K is either incapable of doing it for legal reasons, or not interested in investing that much money to secure one player’s rights.
Hopefully, this gets resolved officially.
However, for those of us who still want to use Barkley in 2K, the game’s modding community comes to the rescue again. As is the case with all 2K mods, you must have the game on PC to partake in the creations.
Adrian Cañada aka Shuajota, one of the most talented members of the 2K modding community pieced together this version of Barkley from a previous creation by Rytis Gineika aka R4zor.
Shuajota added a body type similar to New Orleans Pelicans star and NBA 2K21 next-gen cover athlete Zion Williamson to give the modded Barkley a bulkier look. The results were amazing as you can see in the video below, which also features a look at the body and some highlights of the model in action with 97-overall ratings.
I put the ratings in on my PC, but none of that would transfer to anyone else, because it‘s only for personal use.
The link to the mod is in the description of the video above, and it’s pretty easy to find instructions for installing mods on your PC on YouTube and other resources.
As it pertains to offline play in franchise modes, etc. PC users of 2K continue to have the most opportunities and customization options.
